Guides/Getting started

Set Debrify up

First launch offers three ways in. Which one you want depends on whether Debrify is already running somewhere else.

Where to find it
First launch
Setting up a TV?Transfer from your phone rather than typing keys with a remote
Skipped it?Nothing is lost — it all lives in Settings › Connections

Which route

There is also Skip — I'll do this later, which drops you straight into the app. Nothing breaks; you just have nothing connected yet.

Route 1 — Set it up here

  1. Which services do you have? Pick any you already pay for. Debrify then shows one screen per service so you can connect each in turn.
  2. Where should we search? The sources Debrify searches. They all start on; turn off any you do not want.
  3. Keep your progress synced. Connect Trakt, Simkl or MDBList. All optional.
  4. The last screen summarises what connected and what you skipped. Choose Start watching.

Route 2 — Bring it from another device

Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi. The new device is the receiver and starts listening as soon as you pick this option, showing its own name so you can spot it in the list on the other device.

  1. On the new device, choose Bring it from another device and leave the screen open.
  2. On the device that already works, open Menu › Remote and choose Send.
  3. Choose Transfer Everything and pick the new device from the list.
  4. Turn on Include all profiles. The button then reads Send All Profiles.
  5. Send. The new device asks you to confirm, then finishes setup itself.

Why tick “Include all profiles”

Left off, everything merges into the single profile signed in on the new device. Turned on, every profile is recreated with its own settings, connections, PINs, playlists, favourites and library state — so the new device is a copy of the old one rather than a flattened version of it.

What comes across

Debrid services, Trakt, Simkl and MDBList, tracking preferences, search engines, Jackett or Prowlarr, your addons, and your IPTV providers, favourites and lists.

Route 3 — Restore from a backup

  1. Choose Restore from a backup and pick the file.
  2. Enter the passphrase it was made with.
  3. Confirm. Debrify verifies a complete copy before anything becomes visible, then finishes setup.

A backup made by an Admin can carry every profile from the old device.

Not offered on Apple TV — use one of the other two routes there.

Setup never asks about addons, and without them the app has little to show you. That is the natural next step.
